ABOUT US

Joan Greenfield and Dominique Singer work together as Gooddesign Resource. They bring to bear not only their individual talent and experience but also the singular design style that results from collaboration.

Joan's background in art has cultivated a sense of color, composition, and surface. Her years designing book interiors schooled her in detail-oriented typography and layout. The result is a sensiblity governed by organization that makes complex material intuitively comprehensible; by creativity in the color, texture, and overall "canvas" of the finished design; and by impeccable attention to detail.

Dominique worked for years in fashion merchandising, where she created brand identities and applied them to formats from tiny (labels) to enormous (billboards). In a market flooded with products – especially in the web environment – it can be difficult to distinguish one item from another. She mastered the art of an easy-to-read, distinct look using concise, high-impact type.

BEST COVER DESIGNER I’VE EVER WORKED WITH

“Early in my career in reference book publishing, I had the good fortune to engage Joan Greenfield as designer of a graphically complicated, multivolume encyclopedia. The success of that commission led to a professional association of more than twenty years, during which she designed every major reference work I published at Macmillan Publishing Company and at Oxford University Press. Her designs for encyclopedias, dictionaries, guidebooks, bibliographies, catalogs, atlases, and handbooks of all sorts consistently exhibited classic principles of book design, innovative solutions to difficult graphic problems, appreciation for editorial concerns, sound choices of appropriate type faces, and an exquisite sense of spacing and layout. Thus, Good Design Resource is, I think, a misnomer. It would be better named Excellent Design Resource or Admirable Design Resource or maybe, to my way of thinking, The Best Design Resource in the Business.”
